Amazon Prime members in the United States can now order restaurant food through Amazon with no delivery fee on orders of $25 or more. The new perk, powered by Uber Eats, was announced on Thursday, November 5, and it replaces the Grubhub deal Prime members used before. Here is what you get, how to use it, and what changes for Grubhub users.

What changed today

Amazon and Uber announced a new partnership on Thursday morning that makes Uber Eats the official restaurant delivery partner for Amazon Prime members in the United States. Prime members can now order food from Uber Eats directly on Amazon.com or in the Amazon Shopping app, with no delivery fee on restaurant orders of $25 or more.

The deal starts immediately. Members do not need to download a new app, create an Uber account, or enter new payment details. They sign in with their Amazon account, pick a nearby restaurant, and pay with a card they already have saved on Amazon. Amazon sends email and push updates on the order, and Uber Eats sends the final confirmation.

The change matters because Prime is one of the most widely held memberships in the country. Amazon says the new benefit reaches nearly 10,000 cities and towns, from large metros such as Boston, Atlanta, and Los Angeles to smaller places such as Oak Park, Illinois, and Boardman, Oregon. The network includes national chains such as Wingstop, Chipotle, and Sweetgreen, as well as local restaurants.

“Whether it’s game night, family night, or date night, Prime’s new Uber Eats membership benefit makes getting dinner delivered even easier,” said Jamil Ghani, Amazon’s worldwide vice president of Prime, in the announcement.

How to order Uber Eats through Amazon

Getting started takes three simple steps, according to Amazon’s announcement:

  1. Find Uber Eats on Amazon. Visit amazon.com/ubereats or open the Amazon Shopping app and search “Uber Eats.”
  2. Pick a restaurant and order. Browse nearby restaurants and place an order with your existing Amazon payment methods. No Uber account or new login is needed.
  3. Track the delivery. Amazon sends email and push notifications with delivery status updates. Uber Eats follows up with a final order confirmation.

The benefit is open to all Prime members, including members on Amazon’s half-price plans: Prime for Young Adults and Prime Access. Members can also share the benefit with one other adult in their household through Amazon Family.

One point to keep in mind: the $0 delivery fee applies to the delivery fee itself. The announcement does not say that service fees or tips are waived, so members should still expect to see those charges at checkout. The free delivery also only applies to orders of $25 or more.

What it costs — and what you could save

The delivery perk itself costs nothing extra beyond a Prime membership, which is $14.99 per month or $139 per year. A free 30-day trial is available if you qualify.

To mark the launch, Prime members can get $20 off each of their first two Uber Eats orders of $25 or more during the first 14 days. That is up to $40 in savings on your first two orders. Prime Visa cardmembers also earn 5% back on Uber Eats orders through December 5, 2026.

Amazon says the perks could add up to potential savings of more than $175 per year. That figure is Amazon’s own estimate, based on a typical number of orders per year using order data from August 2026. It is not a promise. How much you actually save depends on how often you order, and offers can change or end at any time. Even so, at $139 a year for Prime, the delivery savings alone could cover the cost of the membership for a regular Uber Eats user.

If you are weighing whether the perk is worth it, the honest answer is that it depends on how you order. If you already order delivery a few times a month and your orders usually pass $25, the waived fees add up fast. If you order rarely, or usually spend less than $25, the benefit will not change much for you. Like other money-saving habits, it pays to check the real cost at checkout — including service fees and tips — before you decide it is a deal. What happens to Grubhub

The Uber Eats deal ends Amazon’s partnership with Grubhub. Amazon first struck a deal with Grubhub in 2022, offering Prime members a free Grubhub+ subscription, and the benefit became a permanent part of Prime in 2024. That commercial agreement ends on Thursday, November 5.

Prime members can no longer place Grubhub orders through Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app. However, there is one exception for existing users: if you already activated Grubhub+ through Prime, you can keep using that membership through December 31, 2027, according to TechCrunch. A Grubhub spokesperson confirmed the agreement is ending.

Why Amazon made the switch

There are two simple reasons. The first is reach. Uber Eats runs one of the largest restaurant delivery networks in the United States, with hundreds of thousands of restaurants. Amazon says the new benefit reaches nearly every household in the country. The second is ease. Ordering stays inside Amazon, with no second app and no second account. That matters for a membership built on making shopping simple.

The deal also deepens a relationship that already runs across several areas. Amazon and Uber already work together on cloud computing, on Zoox robotaxis, and on bringing Uber Eats into Alexa+, Amazon’s AI assistant. The Prime partnership is the most visible step yet, because it puts Uber Eats in front of Prime members directly.

What to watch next

The first thing to watch is how smooth the rollout is. A launch across nearly 10,000 cities and towns is a big job, and early users will quickly show whether ordering, tracking, and refunds work well inside Amazon’s app. Members who run into problems should check Amazon’s help pages first, since Amazon handles the ordering side.

The second is the price picture. Delivery fees are only one part of a food order. Service fees, small-order fees, and tips can add up, and menus on delivery apps sometimes cost more than in the restaurant. The $0 delivery fee is real, but the full bill is what matters. Shoppers who check their rights when things go wrong have a head start — our guide to what to do when your flight is cancelled covers the same idea for travel refunds.

For now, the deal is simple: if you have Prime and you order food, you can now get it delivered through Amazon with no delivery fee on orders of $25 or more. If you used Grubhub through Prime, that door has closed — but if you already activated Grubhub+, it stays open through the end of 2027. And if you are trying the new perk, the $20-off launch offer runs for the first two weeks, so the cheapest time to try it is right now.
